TACHWEDD 2012 BULL BAY BULLETIN NOVEMBER 2012 WELCOME RACHEL AND DECLAN - Croeso ! Following the recent departure of Aled Jones from his post as steward the club is pleased to welcome Rachel King and Declan Masterson to fill the posts of steward / stewardess -.their appointment was confirmed by the November meeting of the Executive Committee. The couple join the club after a successful five year period managing at Molloys in Blackburn. This is their first venture into the golf club business . Declan has many years experience in the hospitality sector, from hotels to licensed houses and Rachel prides herself in delivering good quality food. The couple are enthusiastic to establish a successful business at the club and have already plans in place for the coming festive season and the New Year. Details of the special Christmas menu is available at the club and plans are well in hand for a New Year's Eve function . The couple would welcome the opportunity to discuss members ' catering requirements and can be contacted at the club during usual opening hours. BAYONET SHIELD TEAM : TWO WINS OUT OF THREE – Ennill dwywaith. The club's Bayonet Shield team has opened its season in the top division with two successes in the first three matches. In the opening game the team entertained Penmaenmawr G C and recorded a 3 - 2 victory and following a postponed match at Holyhead G C the five man team beat Nefyn G C 3.5 to 1.5 at Bull Bay In the third match , away at St Deiniol G C , Bangor home advantage proved far too much as the club lost 4.5 to 0.5. Members who represented the club in the opening fixtures were Jack Carter, Sion Thomas, David G Parry, Aled Jones, Ian Norgain and Iwan Roberts Caernarfonshire G C , Conwy , the current champions, visit Bull Bay for the next match on Sunday, December 9th. 2013 FIXTURE LIST FINALISED – Diweddaru llyfr chwaraeon Details of the Centenary year fixture list have been completed .The highlight of the year will centre on Centenary Day and a full week of competitive golf is listed for the days before Friday,August 16th. Following on the success of the G U W Open Youths championship staged at the club last May Bull Bay will host the G U W Girls and Boys Inter Counties team Championship on Friday August 30th and the North Wales Championship will be held at the club on Sunday,September 8th . At a recent meeting of the handicap committee in an attempt to attract more members to play competitive golf it was agreed that there will be an increase in the number of stableford competitions played at club level in 2013. ALLIANCE SUCCESS - Llwyddiant Congratulations to club professional John Burns who, partnered by Sion Thomas,, won the Pro-Am section at the recent North Wales Alliance meeting held at the Anglesey G C Rhosneigr - Sion won the individual prize too. FROM THE CENTENARY COMMITTEE O’r Pwyllgor Canmlwyddiant With the actual Centenary Day a little over 250 days away arrangements for the Celebrations are going well - a full report on the recent Centenary Committee meeting is posted on the club's main notice board. The club has already taken delivery of two sets of Centenary pennants ( thanks to head green keeper Andy Peel for his dealings with Tacit - the suppliers) The club's Centenary flag has been ordered from Flying Colours in Knaresborough and is expected to be delivered before the end of November. An on going project is the supplying of new stone tee markers similar to the one displayed on the seventh tee during the past season. An appeal is made to members and local businesses who wish to sponsor the markers to either contact the office or a member of the Centenary committee .A number of members have already paid the £25 sponsorship fee , many thanks to them. An evening of entertainment in the company of the Llanerchymedd choir is planned for Friday February 1st 2013 and draw tickets for free club membership in 2013 - 14 are available from the Lady Captain (Catherine Jones) priced @ £10 each. FOCUS ON ANOTHER CENTENARY CLUB . Highcliffe G C Another club celebrating its Centenary in 2013 is Highcliffe G C ,Christchurch ,Dorset. The 18 hole parkland course was opened on July 26th 1913 and currently has a membership of 450 comprising of 350 male and 100 lady members. The course is relatively short measuring 4798 yards ( par 64) from the yellow tees and 4841 yards ( par 68) from the ladies tees. The present full membership fee is £795 with a joining fee of £500 .The Summer green fee is £27.50 (Monday to Friday) and £30 (at the weekend) In Winter the green fee is reduced to £17.50 (Monday to Friday) and £20 (at the week end) BACK IN TIME .1956 A tender for £37- 10 - 0 (£37.50) from local electrician G Baxter for installation of electricity in the clubhouse was accepted as was a tender for £36 - 10 - 0 (£36.50) from Mr Gough for painting work . paint was supplied at cost price by a member of the Executive Committee!! The tenancy fee to Mr Innes was increased to £250 per annum Concern was expressed at the A G M that the club had debts of £268 but the Ladies Committee donated £50 to help offset this sum.
