1. Design, syntheses, theoretical and biological activity study on new triazole derivatives.
The works include designation (receptor-based design techniques (Sybyl program)) and
synthesis bioactivities compounds, determination of the structure (elemental anal., IR,
MS, 1H NMR and single crystal X-ray diffraction), antifungal test and quantitative
structure-activity relationships study (Sybyl program and Spss software) of new triazole
derivatives. New compounds with higher antifungal activities were selected as lead
compounds for further rational modification.

(1) Carried out a MO calculations using density functional theory (DFT) at B3LYP/6-
31G level (Gaussian 03 software package).
(2) Explain the triazole compounds’ difference activities against a certain fungus via
molecular orbital theory, since variation in biological activity expressed in the form
of percent inhibition is most strongly correlated with energy variation (△EL–H)
between HOMO and LUMO. (Struct chem 2006, 17, 235-239)
4. Pilot-scale experiment for Neonicotinoid Insecticides production
Based on the investigation on the related patents and literature, the synthesis route and
equipments for lab synthesis test were built. In the experiment, the effect of reaction
temperature, feed ratio and reaction residence time (space velocity) on the conversion
ratio of feedstock and the selectivity of product were investigated and the optimized
reaction condition was obtained. On the basis of the lab test results, the design of flow
diagram for pilot test was followed. It includes techniques flow, selection of equipment
and material, enactment of process control and analysis methods, wastes disposal and
safety technology. In addition, the design of the reactor and some separation tower was
emphasized. The pilot equipment was built and the related pre-experiment was done.
The results show the design for pilot test was reliable.

5. Design, syntheses and insecticidal of new Nereistoxin derivatives.
Nereistoxin is a neurotoxic principle isolated by Nitta in 1934 from a marine annelid.
Among a series of neristonxin (NTX) analogs, Cartap, bensultap and thiocyclam have
been commercialized. Our studies are aimed to obtain a new type of insecticides that are
related to NTX and more chemically stable than the above mentioned insecticide.
