APA Style: Formatting and Examples
The information in this guide is based upon the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association 6th
ed. (2009). This guide provides only basic information about citing references for “in-text” and a “Reference List”
page for books and journal articles. This is not a substitute for being familiar with all APA format requirements.
**Always refer to your instructor and the manual as final authorities about manuscript preparation,
mechanics of style, citing references, etc. **
