The AmericasRelief Team’s Emergency Center has not been activated
to begin coordinating the shipping of relief aid to victims of the event.
However, we anticipate that air relief flights, ocean relief space and
co-loading opportunities will develop. We will notify our colleagues,
friends and members as this emergency develops.

Honduras in crisis, the
Government Decrees a National
Emergency
MIAMI, October 22 - The  Permanent  Commission  on  Emergencies  of  Honduras 
( OPECO) has published the initial aid requirements for victims of Tropical Storm #16.   The  most  recent  assessment  of  the  damages  has  revealed  these  are  considerably  more  widespread  than  originally  estimated,  with  an  increased  threat  of  more destruction  due  to  continuing  rainfall  over  Honduras.    The  number  of  people  displaced by the floods or who were receiving assistance reached almost 130,000.   Rainfall  and  flooding  recalled  Hondurans  the  death  and  destruction  caused  by  H rricane Mitch in 1998.  Rivers continue to rise and the rain has not stopped in the northwestern part of the country.  GOs are alerted to these special needs.    Main Emergency Contacts and Coordinators:  Consulate General of Honduras in Miami  Consular Agent Consulate General of Honduras in Miami 305‐269‐3131
